Knee replacement

Knee replacement – patients who have significant damage to the cartilage in the knee joint may need either a partial or total knee replacement. During a partial knee replacement, only the damaged part of the knee is replaced. In a total knee replacement the entire damaged knee joint  is removed and replaced with metal or plastic replacement parts, called the “prosthesis”.

Knee replacement surgery is  usually reserved for patients who have failed to benefit from non-surgical therapies.
