About Mr Janos Patko, Consultant Orthopaedic Hip & Knee Surgeon

Mr Janos Patko, is a distinguished Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, with a specialist focus on lower limb joint surgery (arthroplasty) and revision joint surgery. He is renowned for his expertise in hip and knee joint surgery, that spans routine and complex joint replacement, revision surgery, minimally-invasive (keyhole) knee surgery, and therapeutic injections into hip and knee joints.

Mr Patko’s expertise also includes advanced techniques such as unicompartmental knee replacement (only the damaged part of the knee joint is replaced), innovative cartilage repair techniques, ceramic bearings, and Birmingham Hip Resurfacing method, which are particularly beneficial for younger patients.

Mr. Patko’s journey began in 1991 when he graduated from Semmelweis University Medical School in Budapest, Hungary. Since then he has dedicated himself to Orthopaedic and Trauma surgery. His extensive postgraduate training and subsequent fellowships in prominent institutions like Bradford, Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Hospital in Oswestry, Queen Medical Centre in Nottingham, Karlsbad Langensteinbach in Germany, and the Spinal Foundation in Rochdale have enriched his knowledge and honed his surgical skills. With an impressive 19 years of training and experience in Orthopaedic and Trauma surgery, he has solidified his reputation as an authority in his field.

Mr Patko’s specialist interest also includes computer navigated knee replacement for knee joint deformities and Patient Specific Instrumentation (PSI) knee replacement surgery for complex joint reconstruction. He has recently undergone specialist training in robotic joint replacement surgery, using the Stryker MAKO system.

To maintain the highest standard of transparency and accountability, Mr Patko submits all his joint surgery data to the National Joint Registry. This allows his surgical outcomes to be reviewed online. Furthermore, he actively gathers patient feedback on the Doctify website, which is available for anyone to view.

Mr Patko is dedicated to his patients and places their care and well-being at the forefront of his practice.

Mr Patko is Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Barnsley General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
